3LM Brings Enterprise-Ready Security to Android
Mobile security company 3LM (“Three Laws of Mobility”), a subsidiary of Motorola Mobility, is ready for primetime with a solution that makes Android handsets enterprise-ready. The company is apparently ready to release its product from a private beta this week; it’s due for a demonstration at the CTIA Enterprise & Applications 2011 conference being held this week in San Diego.
3LM’s product is a piece of pre-installed software designed to give IT enhanced security and management over smartphones via an enterprise console.
Features include device and SD card encryption, encryption of certain corporate applications, the ability to whitelist or blacklist applications, remote wipe capabilities, device location and breadcrumb tracking, and VPN capabilities.
The company also announced that it is aligning its device-level security with BoxTone’s end-to-end EMM platform to deliver even stronger mobile device security and management capabilities in the enterprise.

Addressing enterprise needs for enhanced security and device management, 3LM has collaborated with major handset manufacturers to enable their Android OS-based devices to be enterprise-ready, giving IT enhanced protection and management of the device itself as well as any application installed therein. This enhanced functionality can now be activated by IT administrators through an enterprise server console that is available as part of a complete end-to-end mobile device management platform that 3LM is launching this week.

· Enables remote access to internal enterprise resources for selected domains/resources
· Provides remote device health and status checking
· Each device is identified by a unique IP address, and can be tracked as a network endpoint

The 3LM solution will be generally available in October 2011. 3LM enterprise customer trials spanning multiple vertical markets including government, healthcare, retail and education began in in 1H2011.
