5.2-inch Google Nexus 5X Marshmallow Flagship Now Available To Purchase

LG's flagship Nexus device for 2015, the Nexus 5X, is now on sale in the Google Store. Pricing starts at $379 for what's essentially a higher-end mid-range device, if that makes sense, and includes 16GB of built-in storage. For an extra $50 ($429 total), you can double up on storage and pick up the 32GB version.

The Nexus 5X is an interesting product for the price. It has a 5.2-inch display with a Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) resolution (423 ppi) protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. Powering the handset is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz with Adreno 418 graphics and 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM. That's not a bad foundation.

You'll also find a 5-megapixel front camera, 12.3-megapixel rear camera with IR laser-assisted autofocus and 4K video capture at 30 frames per second, three microphones (front, top, and bottom), front-facing speaker, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS, LTE, USB Type-C, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Noticeably missing is a microSD card slot for expandable storage so evaluate your needs carefully when deciding between the 16GB and 32GB models. What's also curious is that Google is shipping a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable with the Nexus 5X and no other cable, which isn't going to do you a lick of good if want to plug it into your PC but don't have one of the relatively few models out there equipped with such a port. You can, however, add a USB Type-C to USB Standard-A cable for $13 or pick up an adapter for the same price.

This is a plastic handset measuring 147 x 72.6 x 7.9 millimeters and weighing 136 grams. It comes in three color options, including Carbon, Quartz, and Ice. If you purchase one by October 25, 2015, Google will give you a $50 Google Play credit (must be redeemed by December 31, 2015).
