Acer Announces 14-inch TravelMate X3 Notebook Series With Skylake And Windows Hello

Acer has a new laptop line for small and medium sized business professionals looking for a thin and light solution that blends style with modern technology. It's the new TravelMate X3 series, the first of which is the TravelMate X349 bound in an brushed aluminum chassis that measures less 0.7 inches thin and weighs just 3.3 pounds.

Underneath the hood you'll find Intel's 6th Generation Core processor technology based on Skylake powering the 14-inch Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) In-Plane Switching (IPS) display. It also boasts up to 8GB of DDR4 memory and up to 512GB of solid state drive storage, along with an integrated touch fingerprint sensor supporting Windows Hello for fast and secure sign-ins, a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 chip, backlit keyboard, and up to 10 hours of battery life.


For plug-and-play docking, the TravelMate X349 features a USB Type-C port for pairing with an Acer USB Type-C Dock (sold separately, of course) to connect up to two 4K displays while providing power and a variety of peripheral connections through a single cable. It also features a 720p HDR webcam for high-quality videoconferencing and "fined-tuned speakers and micphones."

The display panel on the TravelMate X349 folds back 180 degrees to lay completely flat. You probably won't need that kind of flexibility when working alone, but when collaborating in a group setting, the ability to lay the display flat on desk or table can help share content with others, especially since the TravelMate X349 uses an IPS panel.


On the software side, the TravelMate X349 comes preloaded with Acer ProShield Manager, a suite of security and management tools to protect sensitive data, and Acer Office Manager for IT professionals to quickly deploy security policies and monitor assets from a simple UI.

The TravelMate X349 will be available in North America in October starting at $650.
