Acer Predator Triton 500 Gaming Laptop Delivers Stunning 300Hz Display Backed By RTX 2080

IFA 2019 or “Internationale Funkausstellung” is just around the corner and several companies have already held their own press conferences in anticipation of the event. Acer just announced a new line of products at their press conference in Berlin, and some of the standout products include the Predator Triton 300, Triton 500 with a 300Hz display, and the Acer Nitro XV3 series.

Acer is particularly interested in increasing its number of thin Windows 10 gaming notebooks, and the Predator Triton 300 is the newest addition. The notebook weighs in at 5.07 pounds (2.3 kg) and is advertised as a “blend” of performance and features “all wrapped up in a slim design for a compelling value.” It incorporates an Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU. It contains 16GB of memory, which is upgradeable to 32GB, two 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSDs in RAID 0, and up to a 2 TB hard drive. It also features a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and an aluminum chassis with the classic Predator design.

Acer’s Predator Triton 500 now boasts a 300Hz display; the notebook was initially released this past winter with a 144Hz display. It includes an Intel Core i7-8750H processor, up to 32GB of storage, and up to 1TB NVMe PCle SSD. Consumers can choose between a device with NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU with G-SYNC support or a model that is listed with just an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with no G-SYNC support. The device is even smaller than the Triton 300 and weighs 4.63 pounds (roughly 2.1 kg).

PC gamers will be interested in Acer’s new line of Nitro gaming monitors. The 27 inch Nitro XV273U monitor features WQHD resolution and 165 Hz refresh rates. The 27 and 24.5 inch Nitro XV273 X monitors include Full HD resolution and with up to 240Hz frame rates. Consumers can also purchase the less expensive Nitro XV253Q P 24.5-inch Full HD 144 Hz. All four monitors are NVIDIA G-Sync compatible and include Acer’s bevy of features such as Agile-Splendor technology, Gaming mode, eight display modes, and Acer VisionCare.

Acer also announced a new Swift notebook for $699.99, four new Chromebooks, and a wide variety of other products. Interestingly, Acer is launching Planet9, an open gaming community. Gamers will be able to build and train with teams, participate in tournaments, and learn from pros. The open beta will begin on January 30, 2020.

It is important to note that price and availability of these new products will greatly vary by region. The Predator Triton 300 will be available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) in October for €1,299. The device does not seem like it will be hitting the North American market anytime soon. The predator Triton 500 will be available in EMEA in November starting at EUR for €2,699, in North America in December for $2,799.99 USD, and in China some time by the end of this year.
