Acer Predator Triton 700 Gaming Laptop Combines NVIDIA Max-Q With GeForce GTX 1080 GPU

Acer whet our appetites with by teasing its Predator Triton 700 earlier this year, but today we’re hearing more about the no compromises gaming laptop. Specifically, we’re learning that the Predator Triton 700 will be one of the first products to take full advantage of NVIDIA’s Max-Q Design.

As Marco explained earlier today, Max-Q is a deft combination of GPU tuning, game optimization, and thermal management, which helps keep GeForce GTX 10-Series graphics cards operating at peak efficiency while under stress. Acer goes one step further, invoking NASA’s efforts with rocker design.

“Max-Q, an integral part of NASA’s mission to launch man into space, is defined as the point at which the aerodynamic stress on a rocket in atmospheric flight is maximized,” writes Acer. “Thus, the design of the rocket is precision-engineered around Max-Q. NVIDIA has applied a similar philosophy to designing gaming laptops, enabling Acer to build laptops that are thinner with more GPU performance of previous generation products.”

With this in mind, Acer has shifted from the vague description that the Predator Triton 700 would feature GTX 10-Series graphics to specify that it will be equipped with NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1080. That’s a lot of graphics power to cram into a gaming notebook that is just 0.74 inches thick, and you have Max-Q to thank for that accomplishment. The GPU is also fully overclockable, so you should be able to squeeze even more performance out of it if you desire.

As we’ve previously discussed, the Predator Triton 700 is powered by Intel Kaby Lake processors, can be configured with up to 32GB of DDR4-2400 memory and can be optioned with up to two NVMe PCIe SSDs in a RAID-0 configuration.

The VR-Ready notebook features a 15.6-inch FHD IPS display with NVIDIA G-SYNC technology, a RGB-backlit mechanical keyboard, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort, and Killer DoubleShot Pro networking.

The Acer Predator Triton 700 ship in August with a starting price of $2,999.
