Acer Swift 5, Switch 7 Black Edition And Spin 5 Portables Adopt Intel Kaby Lake-R
Acer wasted no time pouncing on Intel's 8th generation Kaby Lake Refresh (Kaby Lake-R) processor lineup for ultrabooks and other thin and light systems. These new processor options are the foundation for Acer's next-generation Swift, Spin, and Switch models, and specifically the Swift 5 (ultralight), Spin 5 (convertible), and Switch 7 Black Edition (stylish detachable 2-in-1).

Intel's 8th generation Kaby Lake-R processors are the first to bring four physical cores and eight threads to ultrabooks. When comparing 8th generation Core i7 Kaby Lake-R processors to 7th generation Kaby Lake CPUs, Intel claims the newer chips are up to 40 percent faster, which takes into consideration the additional cores and threads.
As to Acer's lineup, the Spin 5 is a lightweight laptop in a "head-turning metal casing." The 13.3-inch model weighs in at 1.5kg and measures 15.9mm thin, while the 15.6-inch variant is just over 2kb and 17.9mm at the waistline.
In addition to Kaby Lake-R CPUs, these systems can be equipped with up to 16GB of DDR4 memory and discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics (15.6-inch model), and boast up to 13 hours of battery life.

Like the others, the Swift 5 is powered by Intel's Kaby Lake-R lineup. It has a Full HD IPS touchscreen, Dolby Audio, 2x2 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and up to 8 hours of battery life to users through the work day. It's also incredibly light at less than 1kg.
