Acer Unveils Atom-Powered easyStore Home Server

Acer announced the new Acer Aspire easyStore Home Server for customers in the US. In addition to targeting home users, Acer is also hoping small businesses that need to network multiple PCs will be interested in the new server. The easyStore Home Server will run Microsoft Windows Home Server.

The server will let users access files and documents on any other computer connected to the network. It will also create an image-based backup of each PC on a daily basis. For quick file uploading, the easyStore Home Server offers one-touch USB copying. After plugging in a USB drive and pushing a button, the machine will automatically copy and sort files into designated folders by file type. For additional data protection, the easyStore Home Server has a recovery/reset pinhole that enables system restores and data recoveries with one touch.

The easyStore Home Server is housed in an 8x7x7 inch shiny black box. It’s powered by Intel’s Atom 230 processor. There’s 2GB of DDR2 RAM and a 1TB hard drive in the server as well as three bays for swappable hard drives. Together, the easyStore Home Server can hold up to 7TB of data. The cage has release levers for each drive to keep them secure. The server has five USB ports, an eSATA port, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. Expect the easyStore Home Server to be available in the US for $399.
