Agent Smartwatch Breaks Out As Latest Kickstarter Craze

There’s just something about smartwatches and Kickstarter, isn’t there? The latest smartwatch to whip up crowdsourced funds fast is the Agent Smartwatch, which is designed for fashion as well as function.

The device is compatible with Android 2.3 and up, the iPhone 4S and newer, and Windows Phone 8 devices. Inside, it has a dual-processor design (a 120MHz ARM Cortex-M4 processor and a secondary AVR co-processor), a 1.28-inch display, Qi wireless charging capabilities, and Bluetooth 4.0 + LE. It’s also waterproof and has a vibration motor, 3D accelerometer, and an ambient light sensor. The battery should last 7 days under normal use and 30 days when used only as a watch.

The Agent team says that the smartwatch will alert you to incoming calls from your phone, clock bike and running mileage, control music playback, offer caller ID, alert you if your phone becomes disconnected from the smartwatch, and of course, tell time.

There are downloadable apps for the Agent Smartwatch (as well as the Agent SDK for other devs), and users will be able to change the custom watch faces easily.

The team is looking to raise some cash on Kickstarter to get the Agent Smartwatch into full production. So far so good; they were hoping for $100,000, and at press time they already had over $304,000--with 29 days to go in the campaign.
