AHX Global's Windows 7-Based iTablets Get Prices And Specifications

Way back at Computex last year, Microsoft let the world know that they were serious when it came to tablets. Apple had the iPad, and there were already a bunch of Android tablets heading to market. The question was simple: "Does Microsoft plan to compete in this space?" The answer was "yes" but no one really knew how Windows 7 would react on a tablet form factor. And even today, only a couple of Win7-based tablets have found it to market, and none of them have put a dent in the sales of the iPad, Galaxy Tab and the other high-brow tablets that have been released.

AHX Global certainly isn't a major name in the industry, but given just how few Windows 7-based tablets that there are, it's good to have one more to consider. The 10" iTablet W10 has just been given a formal price and release date, after debuting officially earlier this month at CES 2011. The First model, which is the higher-end of the two, will ship with a 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor, 2GB of DDR2 SDRAM, an integrated card reader (SD), a 2MP webcam and an HDMI output. There will also be two USB 2.0 ports for connecting peripherals. Not too shabby!

The Second model will use a slower 1.1GHz Atom Z510 processor, only 1GB of DDR2 memory and Windows 7 Starter Edition. It shared the card reader and two USB 2.0 ports, though.

The company plans to announce major retail relationships in the coming weeks, with the two priced at $849.99 and $749.99, respectively.
