AIDA64 Changelog Suggests Another NVIDIA GeForce RTX Super Card May Be Coming
The developers of AIDA64, a system diagnostic and auditing utility, may have tipped the pending launch of another GeForce RTX Super graphics card. While nothing is for certain, there is a curious entry in the changelog for the latest AIDA64 Extreme beta release that references an unreleased GeForce RTX built around a TU102 GPU.
According to the changelog, the latest AIDA64 Extreme beta release can read "GPU information for NVIDIA GeForce RTX T10-8 (TU102)." I've highlighted the interesting bit in bold.
As it stands, NVIDIA offers four graphics cards built around the TU102 GPU. They include the following...
- Titan RTX (TU102): 4,608 CUDA cores, 24GB memory, $2,499
- GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (TU102): 4,352 CUDA cores, 11GB memory, $999
- Quadro RTX 8000 (TU102): 4,608 CUDA cores, 48GB memory, $9,999
- Quadro RTX 6000 (TU102): 4,608 CUDA cores, 24GB memory, $6,299
AIDA64's changelog lists the T10-8 part as being a GeForce RTX card, and assuming that is accurate, we are looking at another consumer entry. And since the GeForce RTX Super series is essentially replacing the non-Super models, we can make a plausible speculation that another GeForce RTX Super card is in the wings.
No other details are available. That said, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is the only GeForce RTX model left without a Super counterpart. So, it's possible NVIDIA is prepping a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Super. There is definitely room to do so—NVIDIA could enable additional CUDA cores, tweak the clocks, and even add more memory.
The tricky part would be keeping enough separation between a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Super and Titan RTX, as the latter costs more than twice as much. There are ways to do that. For example, adding more CUDA cores and bumping up the clocks, but leaving the amount of memory alone.
Barring another leak, all we can do now is wait and see what (if anything) materializes.
