Alcatel 1X Android Go Phones Heads To The US Priced From Under $100

Alcatel has a new Android Go device that is coming to the U.S. for people who don’t like to spend lots of cash on a smartphone. The big thing about the Alcatel 1X isn’t the performance or the specs, it's the bargain basement price tag. The 1X will sell for $100, making it perfect for those who are rough on phones and break them frequently, folks looking for a cheap device off contract, or parents looking for a first smartphone for kids.

The Alcatel 1X packs a 5.3-inch screen with a meager 480 x 960 resolution and runs a MediaTek MT6739 chipset. That chipset has a quad-core CPU that runs at 1.3GHz and uses a PowerVR GE8100 GPU. It only has 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, but again this device is about budget, not benchmarks. If you need more storage space for your content, a microSD card slot is built in that is good for up to 32GB cards.

Photography fans can get their snaps on with a 5MP front selfie camera and an 8MP rear camera. Power comes from a 2,640 mAh internal battery and the OS out of the box is Android 8.1. If you want to spend a bit more cash, Alcatel does have a phone with better specs for a bit more than twice the cash called the Alcatel 3V.

The 3V sells for about $232 and has a dual camera setup on the rear with a 12MP F/2.2 and 2MP f/2.4 units on the back. The front facing camera is a 5MP unit for selfies. The 3V gets power from a 3,000 mAh internal battery and it also runs Android Oreo. Both the 3V and the 1X will come to the US and availability will be announced closer to launch according to Alcatel.
