Alleged Google Pixel 3 XL Lite Benchmarks Leaked With Snapdragon 710 SoC
It has been rumored that Google
is prepping mid-range versions of its Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL
handsets, which will be called Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL. These would be more affordable variants than their flagship brethren, with lower end hardware. Surprisingly, however, a supposedly leaked benchmark reveals that the Pixel 3 Lite XL might actually have more RAM than the Pixel 3 XL.
There is a new database entry over at Geekbench that points to the upcoming device. It's listed as a "Foxconn Pixel 3 XL" with an "SDM710" chipset, otherwise known as Qualcomm's Snapdragon 710
system-on-chip (SoC), clocked at 1.71GHz. The listing also shows the phone as having 6GB of system RAM.
We're a bit skeptical of this metric, and the listing at large. Bear in mind that the regular Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL both have 4GB of RAM, which is paired with a Snapdragon 845
processor and 64GB or 128GB of onboard storage. If the Geekbench listing is legitimate, it would mean that Google's upcoming mid-range variants would wield more RAM than its flagship phones, or at least that would be true of the XL version.
That's not entirely out of the realm of possibility. The slower Snapdragon 710 SoC would hamstring performance compared to the presumably pricier Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, while simultaneously giving the Pixel 3 Lite XL (and potentially the non-XL version) a leg up on the competition.
In any event, the listing shows the Pixel 3 Lite XL scoring 1,805 in Geekbench's single-score test and 5,790 in the multi-core test. We obviously can't vouch for the leaked benchmark, but here's how the scores would stack up against our own collection of Geekbench scores...
Leaked Pixel 3 Lite XL compared to our own collection of Geekbench scores
The leaked scores are well below those we saw from the regular Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, as well as every other modern flagship phone. Many previous generation flagship handsets scored higher as well. That's not unexpected, though, as the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL are supposed to be mid-range handsets.
We'll have to wait and see how things shake out, not just in terms of performance, but also the all-round feature-set and pricing.
