Alleged Nintendo 64 Classic Retro Console Images Leak Online

Back in late September, a trademark filing with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) was "registered and published" for the Nintendo 64 Classic. Included in the filing was a line drawing of a Nintendo 64 controller, which was penned in the same style as previous filings for the already released NES Classic and SNES Classic.

Today, we're receiving further evidence of the looming release of Nintendo 64 Classic. Spanish Twitter user Nacho & Pistacho has posted what he claims to be images of the unreleased miniature console, which were reportedly obtained from an unnamed source with close ties to Nintendo.

As with the previous NES Classic and SNES Classic releases, this alleged Nintendo 64 Classic looks like a dead ringer for its full-size counterpart, albeit in shrunken-down form. What's interesting about the Nintendo 64 Classic, however, is that it has a slide out compartment at the console's base that allows you to plug in up to four controllers.

Now we have to reiterate that these are in no way official images and they could easily be high-quality Photoshops for all we know. However, the design at least seems plausible and the fact that the EU filing has been registered leads us to believe that we could be very close to Nintendo making an official announcement.

We're getting ready to gear up for the 2018 holiday shopping season, so we could see something from Nintendo in the coming weeks,
