Alleged Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Benchmarks Leak With Dominant Multi-Core Performance

Given that we're already over half-way through 2019, it should come as no surprise that we're now beginning to see early benchmarks for the alleged Snapdragon 865. In this case, we're looking at Geekbench figures, which you can see in the screengrab below:

The first thing that we notice is that the Snapdragon 865 get a healthy boost in single-threaded performance, easily outpacing current generation flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S10+ and the OnePlus 7 Pro. However, what's even more impressive are the gains in multi-threaded performance. As you can in our comparison chart below, while the Snapdragon 865 can't outpace the iPhone XS Max in single-threaded performance (or the old iPhone X for the matter), it blows everything else out of the water with respect to multi-threaded performance. The SOC managed to break through the 12,000-point barrier and is knocking on the door of 13,000.

We should mention that this Geekbench listing, which was first pointed out by Ice Universe, shows that the Snapdragon 865 in question is equipped with 6GB of RAM and has a base CPU clock of 1.8GHz. However, these are very early numbers, which means that we could see even better performance with production-ready silicon. The multi-core scores already look amazing, so perhaps Qualcomm can put in some final tweaks on single-core performance.

According to previous reporting from Roland Quandt, there will be two versions of the Snapdragon 865 released: Kona and Huracan. The version in the benchmarks above is Kona. One of the two chips – we don’t know which one at this point – will have an integrated Snapdragon X55 modem for native 5G support.

Based on previous launch scheduled, we should start seeing some [official] preliminary information on Snapdragon 865 in the November/December timeframe with the first shipping smartphones arriving in early 2020 -- likely leading off with the Samsung Galaxy S11.
