Amazon Prime Subscription Falls To $67 For New Members To Celebrate Five Emmy Wins

Winning an Emmy award isn't easy, just ask Amy Poehler, Steve Carell, Michael C. Hall, David Duchovny, or any others who have starred in hit TV shows but have yet to be honored with one of the ultimate prizes. So it's understandable that Amazon is stoked that its own original programming series Transparent notched five Emmy wins at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards earlier this week.

To celebrate its success, Amazon is making its Prime service available for just $67 to new members. That's a $32 discount over the regular $99 annual fee and a heck of a deal if you're a frequent shopper at Amazon. As always, Prime members receive free 2-day shipping on millions of qualifying items, though the benefits of being a Prime member now go well beyond online shopping.

Prime members also enjoy unlimited photo and video storage in the cloud, access to select streaming movies, TV shows, and music, and can borrow one Kindle book per month from over 800,000 available titles at no cost on any Kindle device (and with no due dates).

"This has been an incredibly exciting year—with the Golden Globes wins in January and now twelve nominations and five Primetime Emmy wins. We are thrilled to celebrate Transparent with our customers by offering a Prime discount," said Michael Paull, Vice President of Digital Video for Amazon. "Congratulations again to Jill Soloway, Jeffrey Tambor and the cast and crew of Transparent for making such a beautiful show, and to our customers—enjoy!"

The Prime discount is a one-day affair that starts on Friday, September 25 at 12:00 AM Eastern and ends at 11:59 PM Pacific. If you're planning to sign up, bookmark this link and hit it on Friday.

If you're a student, forget about the above deal because Amazon has a better offer. Students can join Amazon Prime at a 50 percent discount, plus they get a six-month free trial.
