News regarding AMD’s 2nd Generation Ryzen processors has been trickling out for months. We covered the initial announcement back during CES in January when AMD first revealed its plans, which also included some salacious info about a couple of upcoming GPUs and the X470 chipset. Additional specifications, some benchmark data, and an array of X470 motherboard shots have leaked since then as well. But today, as we inch closer to the 2nd Generation Ryzen processors’ official launch, in addition to pre-orders going live, we’ve some actual hardware to show you...

The AMD Ryzen 7 2700X and Ryzen 5 2600X, along with a trio of motherboards, are currently on the test bench and being put through their paces. We’ve also taken the opportunity to completely re-vamp and update all of our current-gen test-beds to account for all of the post-Spectre and Meltdown hoopla.

We obviously can’t reveal any numbers just yet – that will have to wait for next week’s launch – but considering 2nd Generation Ryzen’s higher clocks, lower latency, and more opportunistic boost algorithm, you can rest assured it ups the ante on AMD’s Socket AM4 platform.
