AMD Next Horizon Gaming Event Announced For E3 2019, 7nm Radeon Navi Expected
The event is scheduled to take place on June 10th at 6pm EST and will be live streamed for those that won't be in attendance at the show. AMD is being rather tight-lipped about the announcements that will be made during the event, but all signs are pointing towards us learning some significant details on the upcoming 7nm Navi architecture that will be powering a new series of Radeon graphics cards.
The AMD announcement stated that CEO Dr. Lisa Su will discuss "upcoming products and technologies that will power gaming from PC to console to cloud for years to come. The event will also feature appearances by leading game developers who will provide exclusive looks at some of the most anticipated new titles of the year."
AMD and Sony have already confirmed that the upcoming PlayStation 5 will be powered by both octa-core Zen 2 (CPU) and Navi (GPU) architectures, so we're likely to hear more on that front as well.
Earlier this month, we heard rumors that AMD will launch a Navi 10-based Radeon RX 3080 XT later this year that will feature 56 compute units and 8GB of GDDR6 memory. The gaming card will allegedly offer NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070-class performance at a price tag of $330.
Next year, an alleged Navi 20-based Radeon RX 3090 and Radeon RX 3090 XT will debut with 60 and 64 compute units respectively. The former will reportedly match the Radeon VII at a much lower $430 price point, while the latter is expected to boost that performance by another 10 percent with a $499 price tag.
