Over the summer, AMD announced that it was extending Polaris architecture into the professional market, for those who require CAD and 3D modeling workhorses, with the Radeon Pro WX Series. Today, AMD has revealed finalized specifications for the Radeon Pro WX Series along with pricing and availability.

When the professional graphics cards were first announced in late July, AMD was targeting performance of greater than 2 TFLOPs, 4 TFLOPs, and 5 TFLOPs for the Radeon Pro WX 4100, WX 5100, and WX 7100 respectively. Now that the official specs are out, we’re seeing that AMD was able to hit its mark on two out of the three cards:

  • Radeon Pro WX 4100: 16 compute units / 2.4 TFLOPs / 4GB memory / 128-bit memory bus / 50W TDP
  • Radeon Pro WX 5100: 28 compute units / 3.9 TFLOPs / 8GB memory / 256-bit memory bus / 75W TDP
  • Radeon Pro WX 7100: 32 compute units / 5.7 TFLOPs / 8GB memory / 256-bit memory bus / 130W TDP

Both the Radeon Pro WX 4100 and WX 7100 were able to easily surpass their estimated performance targets, while the middle child WX 5100 came just slight below projections. However, we won’t hold that slim downgrade against the chip company.

When it comes to real world performance, AMD says that the Radeon Pro WX 4100 delivers best-in-class performance with nearly a 100 percent performance advantage in SOLIDWORKS 2015 and a 36 percent advantage over the NVIDIA Quadro K1200 in 3ds Max. Other cherry-picked numbers from AMD show that the Radeon Pro WX 5100 is 41 percent faster than the Quadro M2000 in Siemens NX, while the VR-ready Radeon Pro WX 7100 is 45 percent faster than the Quadro M4000 in SOLIDWORKS 2015.

On the software front, AMD is pledging to deliver timely, quarterly Radeon Pro WX Series driver updates. Driver releases will launch on a set time schedule, arriving on the fourth Thursday of every quarter. The first release came on October 27th, with the next three scheduled for January 26th, April 27th, and July 27th.
