AMD Ryzen 3 2300X Mainstream Zen+ Processor Benchmarks Leak Ahead Of Launch
More second generation Ryzen processors are headed to the desktop, and in particularly there have been leaks centered around the Ryzen 5 2500X and Ryzen 3 2300X, both of which made an appearance on Geekbench earlier this month. Now a new batch of benchmarks have shown up for the latter part, along with a few photographs of the unreleased part.
To recap, the Ryzen 3 2300X is a 4-core/4-thread processor based on AMD's Zen+ architecture. It was previously reported that it ran at 3.5GHz to 4GHz, but it now looks like the Turbo clock is actually 4.2GHz, based on the newly leaked screenshots. Here's how it fits into the mix of AMD's other second generation Zen parts (including the unreleased Ryzen 5 2500X):
- Ryzen 7 2700X: 8 cores / 16 threads, 3.7GHz to 4.3GHz, 20MB total cache, 105W TDP
- Ryzen 7 2700: 8 cores / 16 threads, 3.2GHz to 4.1GHz, 20MB total cache, 65W TDP
- Ryzen 5 2600X: 6 cores / 12 threads, 3.6GHz to 4.2GHz, 19MB total cache, 95W TDP
- Ryzen 5 2600: 6 cores / 12 threads, 3.4GHz to 3.9GHz, 19MB total cache, 65W TDP
- Ryzen 5 2500X: 4 cores / 8 threads, 3.6GHz to 4GHz, 18MB total cache, 65W TDP
- Ryzen 3 2300X: 4 cores / 4 threads, 3.5GHz to 4.2GHz, 10MB total cache, 65W TDP
As of this moment, the only quad-core CPUs in the Ryzen 2000 series feature Vega graphics, including the Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G. That is going to change with the introduction of the Ryzen 3 2300X and Ryzen 5 2500X.
Over at Chiphell, a user posted some screenshots and benchmarks of the Ryzen 3 2300X, including the Cinbebench R15 run above where it scored 690. To put that number into context, here are scores that we recorded on our own test equipment:
- Ryzen 7 2700X: 1,808
- Ryzen 5 2600X: 1,376
- Ryzen 5 2400G: 813
- Ryzen 3 2200G: 550
Scoring 690 puts it above the Ryzen 5 2400G, though obviously it falls below other second generation Ryzen processors with more cores and threads to throw at workloads.
We don't run the Fritz Chess benchmark in our own evaluations, so we don't have any numbers to add for context. However, it's a free download if you want to run it yourself and see how your chip compares to the leaked benchmark above.
In any event, the Ryzen 3 2300X is shaping up to an interesting chip, depending on how it ends up being priced. As a point of reference, the Ryzen 3 2200G sells for $96 on Amazon.
