Update: Gamers Report Destiny 2 Won't Run With AMD's New Ryzen 3000 CPUs Installed
AMD has provided us with the following statement with regards to Destiny 2 issues with Ryzen 3000 processors:
AMD has identified the root cause and implemented a BIOS fix for an issue impacting the ability to run certain Linux distributions and Destiny 2 on Ryzen 3000 processors. We have distributed an updated BIOS to our motherboard partners, and we expect consumers to have access to the new BIOS over the coming days.

However, new processor architectures and platforms (X570) can sometimes introduce minor issues, and gamers are reporting that they are unable to play Destiny 2 with a Ryzen 3000 processor installed. Reports have begun to flood both Bungie.net and reddit regarding the problem, with Bungie forum member NoPantsoN describing that upgrading to a Ryzen 7 3700X and Gigabyte X570 motherboards resulted in the game becoming unplayable.
"When i click play on Battlenet it says its launching the game," writes NoPantsoN. "Battlenet minimizes and the game never comes up. It will show up in task manager and stay there for a minute or 2 then its just gone. Battlenet will say at that time that the game is still running."
Other forum members chimed in with similar complaints, including those running Ryzen 3000 processors on older X470 motherboards. With those data points, the problem doesn't seem to be chipset-related, which could have pointed to the X570; but instead appears to be specific to the architectural changes in Zen 2.
"Yup, got a new motherboard and the 3900X and can't launch it," added RulingPolecat7. "Did everything in every post and thread I could get my hands on - even reinstalled the launcher AND the game. No dice."
It's much of the same over at reddit, with various redditors complaining about the Battle.net launcher hanging. "I've been pulling my hair out for 4+ hours trying to figure out what the issue was," chumaz chimed in. "I've never had issues migrating the drive I keep those games on between reloads. Other battle.net games don't seem to have issues so with everything being up in the air with the migration I really hope they patch this quick."
At this point, we're assuming (or at least hoping) that this is just a minor issue that Bungle will be able to push out a quick patch to alleviate. Until then, diehard Destiny 2 gamers should be forewarned that you'll be sidelined if you decide to become an early adopter with Ryzen 3000 processors.
