AMD Ryzen Box Art And Preorder Pricing Leaks Ahead Of Rumored February 28th Launch
The hype level is off the charts for Ryzen, the next-generation processor architecture that is supposed to bring parity between AMD and Intel in the high-end market. If recent leaks
Belgian retailer centralpoint.be currently lists three of AMD's top-end Ryzen processors for pre-order with prices that generally align with previous leaks. Here is a look:
- AMD Ryzen 7 1700: €319
- AMD Ryzen 7 1700X: €389
- AMD Ryzen 7 1800X: €519
Those prices exclude VAT. Earlier this week, U.S. pricing leaked to the web with Ryzen 7 1700 priced at $319, the Ryzen 7 1700X priced at $389, and the Ryzen 7 1800X priced at $499. The Belgian retailer doesn't really deviate from those prices, save for the Ryzen 7 1800X, which carries a slight premium. That gives previous leaks a bit of added credibility, though obviously we'll have to wait for Ryzen's release before knowing for sure.
If clicking through to the product page for any of the three Ryzen processors up for pre-order, the listed release date is February 28. AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su said during the company's fourth quarter earnings call that Ryzen would arrive in early March. She also promised "widespread system and channel availability" on day of release, which is good news for anyone waiting on Ryzen to arrive before building a new system.
A retailer based in Thailand has also begun taking pre-orders for Ryzen processors, albeit at higher prices. The retailer also included box art. These look to be press renderings, but if the actual boxes are true to scale, then it hints at AMD bundling in a stock cooler. One of those could be a redesigned high-performance cooler that is essentially a newer version of the Wraith.
