Angry Birds Flinging into Space on March 22

Those addicting Angry Birds everybody likes to fling at flimsy structures are going where man has gone before, but has yet to truly conquer. We're talking about outer space, folks, Angry Birds Space is a brand new game with some all new gameplay elements, "plus a few surprises," according to Rovio, which promises the latest installment will land on Earth on March 22.

Details are few and far between at this point, and Rovio's teaser trailer (embedded below) doesn't reveal much either, but Yahoo Games did manage to obtain some juicy info straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

"We think fans are really going to love [Angry Birds Space] because we've already gotten amazing feedback on the physics of our games," Andrew Stalbow, GM of Rovio North America, told Yahoo Games.

Angry Birds Space will challenge gamers on brand new planets with no gravity, introducing gameplay elements like slow-motion puzzles and "lightspeed" destruction. And if you're a physics purist, don't scoff -- NASA is helping to make sure Rovio gets the outer space physics just right.

"Science and education are very important to us, and we're very excited to have NASA and National Geographic on launch partners on Angry Birds," Stalbow added.
