Angry Birds Space Tops 10 Million Downloads in 72 Hours

Those Angry Birds everyone likes to fling at thieving pigs and shoddy structures have only been in space for three days, and in that time have already amassed more than 10 million downloads, Rovio announced on Twitter this morning. Angry Birds Space is latest title in the popular franchise, and it's gotten off to a far faster start than Angry Birds Rio, which took 10 days to log the same number of downloads.

"10 million Angry Birds Space downloads in less than 3 days! Thanks to our fans, stay tuned form ore! #angrybirdsspace," Rovio posted to Twitter earlier today.

Angry Birds Space was released simultaneously on iOS, Android, PC (Windows), and Mac. Unfortunately for Windows Phone users, it looks like Rovio is planning to skip the platform entirely, saying it's too much work to maintain.

"We're the No. 1 app in the Windows Phone app store, but it's a big undertaking to support it, and you have to completely rewrite the application," Rovio said in a statement, according to AfterDawn.

Angry Birds Space is different from previous titles in that it challenges gamers with "zero gravity" physics.
