Apple's New 10.2-Inch iPads Already Discounted Before It Ships With This Hot Deal

Apple iPad
Well, that was fast—there is already a discount available on Apple's newest generation 10.2-inch iPad, the one that was just announced earlier this week and is not yet shipping. While not yet available to bring home, Amazon is accepting preorders for the latest iPad models, and you can snag a 10.2-inch iPad with Wi-Fi connectivity and 128GB of onboard storage for $399.99.

The savings amounts to a 7 percent discount (save $29.01) over the $429 MSRP. While we have seen Amazon (and other retailers) offer price cuts on iPad models, it is a bit unusual for there to be a deal on a brand new version before it even starts shipping.

It is the only the 128GB Wi-Fi model that is on sale, albeit all three color choices, including Space Gray, Silver, and Gold...
The newest iPad replaces the sixth generation 9.7-inch version. For this iteration, Apple is offering a bigger 10.2-inch Retina display (2160x1620, 500 nits brightness). It is powered by the same A10 Fusion processor as found in the previous generation iPad (and also the iPhone 7), though the latest model also incorporates a Smart Connector for hooking up a physical keyboard.

Apple also retained the same 32.4-watt-hour battery. However, despite having a bigger display with more pixels, Apple is claiming identical battery life—up to 10 hours on the Wi-Fi models (and up to 9 hours on the Wi-Fi + Cellular variants).

The newest generation iPad will be in stores on September 30, and presumably that is when preorders from Amazon will arrive.
