Apple Acknowledges iPad Pro Freezing Complaints, Investigates Proper Fix

Apple's engineers have put on their detective caps and are collectively investigating why the iPad Pro's display is prone to freezing after sitting on a charger for a length of time. There's no fix available at the moment, but it's only a matter of time before there will be one. Until then, Apple suggests the only known recourse, which is to perform a hard reset.

"To get back to using your iPad Pro, force restart it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo," Apple states on a new support page. "Apple is aware of this issue and is investigating."

The issue came to attention when several users started complaining on various web forums and social media sites. There's a thread on Apple's own support forum that now spans nearly two dozen pages with around 330 replies to the original poster, many of which chimed in to say they too are experiencing the same freezing issue.

Support reps from Apple had previously been advising a range of troubleshooting suggestions, though there doesn't appear to be a cure-all solution at this point. It also doesn't seem to matter whether users set up their iPad Pro tablets as a new device or restore from an old one, the freezing issue doesn't discriminate between the two.

Apple didn't say how many iPad Pro models it believes are affected by the issue, though we're expecting the company to say it's a "small number" once it rolls out a fix.
