Apple iPhone X production has stabilized more than a month after the flagship smartphone was initially made available to customers. Shipping times that originally were estimated at 5 to 6 weeks have now shrunk down to just one week from the time an order is placed. That tightening up of the delivery window also means that Apple has now made available a SIM-free version of the iPhone X.

As with previous generation iPhones, the SIM-free version of the iPhone X is compatible with both CDMA and GSM networks. In addition, you are not tied to any particular carrier, and are free to jump from carrier to carrier if you choose. In the U.S., that means that you can use the phone on Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, or any of the various MVNOs operating within the country.

Prior to today's SIM-free iPhone X launch, customers previously had to go through a pre-activation process with a wireless carrier to complete a purchase – even when paying full MSRP for a device (although this wasn't necessarily a requirement for those that bought T-Mobile models at MSRP direct from Apple).

Given that you will be purchasing the SIM-free iPhone X at full price -- $999 for the 64GB model, $1,149 for the 256GB model -- carrier financing obviously isn't available. However, you can purchase the smartphone using 24-month special financing direct from Apple.

Orders placed today for shipping will arrive by December 13th, or you can pick the phone up today at a local Apple Store.
