Apple iPhone 11 Max Case Renders Highlight Upcoming Design Changes

The incoming 2019 family of Apple iPhones is just a few months away, and thanks to numerous leaks, we already have a pretty good idea of what the smartphones will look like. However, our best look yet might be courtesy of new leaked renders that show the alleged iPhone 11 Max.

We can clearly see the square camera pod on the back which has been rumored, and seemingly confirmed by various other case leaks. This time around, case maker Olixar’s renders also reference the square camera pod, which houses three cameras and a round LED flash on the iPhone 11 Max.

One other minor detail revealed in this new case leak is a redesigned mute switch. Instead of the rectangular switch, there is new round switch that moves vertically up and down along the long axis of the chassis. This is similar to the mute switch design that was used on the early generations of the iPad. It’s not certain at this time why Apple would adopt this design for the mute switch on the incoming class of iPhones, but some might prefer this approach.

With that being said, the design of the iPhone 11 Max looks familiar to anyone that has seen an iPhone X, iPhone XS or iPhone XR. That means that there’s still a notch at the top of the display to accommodate the selfie camera, speaker, and Face ID hardware. There’s also the familiar Lightning port on the bottom of the phone. Speaking of the Lightning port, Apple is said to finally include an 18W power adapter in the box instead of the long-standing 5W unit to enable faster charging.

On the hardware front, we expect display sizes (5.8-inch, 6.1-inch, 6.5-inch) and resolutions to remain the same, although an Apple A13 SoC will be powering the smartphones this year. We also might see bumps in battery capacity across the board along with support for reverse wireless charging (something that we’ve seen from Huawei and Samsung smartphones recently).

If Apple sticks by its usual release schedule, the new 2019 iPhones will debut in early September with an official launch coming in late September or early November.
