Apple Launches iOS 9 For iPhones And iPads, Delays watchOS 2 Due To Last Minute Bug

After first announcing the operating system in June, Apple is now ready to make iOS 9 available to the masses. Apple switched things up a bit leading up to the official release of iOS 9, allowing the public widespread access to the beta operating system which allowed customers to be on the bleeding edge of Apple’s software releases, while at the same time giving Apple a larger device pool to draw data and feedback from.

"With this update, your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch become more intelligent and proactive with powerful search and improved Siri features," states Apple’s release notes for iOS 9. "New multitasking features for iPad allow you to work with two apps simultaneously, side-by-side or with the new Picture-in-Picture feature.

"And, built-in apps become more powerful with detailed transit information in Maps, a redesigned Notes app, and an all-new News app. And improvements at the foundation of the operating system enhance performance, improve security and give you up to an hour of extra battery life."

Unfortunately, when it comes watchOS 2, we have some disappointing news for you. The major OS update for the Apple Watch was also supposed to land today, but Apple at the last minute pulled the plug, citing a last minute bug.

“We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected,” said Apple in a statement to TechCrunch. “We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly.”
