Apple Launches More Powerful 10.5-inch iPad Pro With Slimmer Bezels And 120Hz Display

The new 10.5-inch iPad Pro joins a refreshed 12.9-inch model, both of which include TrueTone displays that are 50 percent brighter. The displays also incorporate ProMotion technology, which is just a fancy way of saying that they have a refresh rate of 120Hz instead of 60Hz. The faster refresh rate also means that “inking” with the Apple Pencil is even faster and smoother with these new iPad Pros.

Both tablets also get a speed boost, as they are powered by Apple’s latest A10X Fusion processor, which offers a solid 40 percent improvement in graphics performance compared to the outgoing A9X. In addition, both iPad Pro models now feature the same camera hardware (both back and front) as the iPhone 7.

These new iPads are shipping today with iOS 10.3, but they will receive a free upgrade to iOS 11 in the fall. iOS 11 brings a number of productivity-related features that will make the iPad Pro a more versatile work tool including improved multitasking, Multi-Touch Drag and Drop for copy/pasting pictures and text throughout the operating system, the new Files app (which makes local and online file management easier), a redesigned app switcher and a configurable dock.

The new 10.5- and 12.9-inch iPad Pros are available for purchase now, priced from $649 and $779 respectively in 64GB+Wi-Fi configurations.
