Apple's Home Page May Have Leaked All-New Mac Pro Launch Date

When Apple announced its new Mac Pro desktop computer earlier this month, the machine definitely impressed with its power Intel 28-core Xeon processors and Radeon Pro Vega II graphics. Apple gave up most of the details on the machine but withheld information like detailed pricing of the computer and a specific launch date offering only a vague "Fall" launch window. We now have a more precise launch date thanks to a slip-up by Apple.

Eagle-eyed Mac fans noticed that the landing page for the Mac Pro listed "Coming September" at the top of the popup that allows you to sign up to receive updates on the machine. That page says typically, "Coming This Fall." The page has since been changed to state "Coming this Fall" indicating the September launch date that was called out was made in error.

Scuttlebutt suggests that the mistake pinpoints the launch date for the Mac Pro computer. If you missed the announcement for the Mac Pro, it's offering some impressive available hardware, and it's very expensive. The starting price for the Mac Pro is $5,999, and it will get vastly more expensive than that if all the option boxes are ticked. The base machine includes an 8-core Intel Xeon processor, 32GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage, and Radeon Pro 580X GPU.

The Mac Pro is available with up to a 28-core Intel Xeon processor, and it has 12 DIMM slots for RAM supporting up to 1.5TB of 2,933 MHz ECC memory. To keep all that hardware cool, Apple uses fans that claim to move 300 cfm of air. On the GPU front, the Mac Pro can be fitted with up to a pair of Radeon Pro Vega II Duos that give 56 TFLOPS of performance. Apple also launched an equally expensive Apple Pro Display XDR that sells for $4,999 (plus an extra $1,000 for a stand).
