Apple Now Saying White iPhone 4 Not Coming Until Late July

It's a blessing and a curse, being Apple. Sure, everyone pays attention when you launch a new product, but that also means that those same people will nitpick to death if anything during the launch isn't executed perfectly. Apple has been dealing with quite a bit of criticism over the past 24 hours, though we highly doubt any complaints about reception will hinder their ability to sell through their initial stock.

But here's something that might: Apple's white iPhone 4 isn't available for sale, and it won't be for quite some time. Many consumers pre-ordered this phone through Best Buy or other retailers, but Apple has issued an official statement saying that they will not be available anywhere until "the second half of July."

What's interesting about this is that Apple showcased their white iPhone 4 at the actual launch event earlier in the month, but obviously it has proven more difficult to produce those phones in scale. The full release is below, and if you were longing for a white iPhone 4 from the start, you could either wait things out and hope for the best, or just snap up a black one and grab a white case. With these reception issues, it sounds like you may need one anyway.

Statement by Apple on White iPhone 4

White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.
