Apple Re-Opens Developer Center After Security-Related Outage

Last week, Apple's Developer Portal went offline unexpectedly, and it remained that way for a week. That's a long time for any one Apple product to be offline, particularly one so closely linked to its iOS ecosystem. The company later confirmed that it had been breached, and that it was working on an internal overhaul before opening it all back up again. Now, it appears that the internal tinkering has been finalized, as the Developer Center is back online and open for business.


Devs are reporting that the Center looks the same as it did before, with no major consumer-facing modifications. However, Apple has likely overhauled the guts of the thing in order to hopefully prevent yet another security intrusion. Apple mailed out the following e-mail to its developers:

"We appreciate your patience as we work to bring our developer services back online. Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, software downloads, and other developer services are now available. If you would like to know the availability of a particular system, visit our status page.  If your program membership expired or is set to expire during this downtime, it will be extended and your app will remain on the App Store. If you have any other concerns about your account, please contact us.  Thank you for bearing with us while we bring these important systems back online. We will continue to update you on our progress."

Looks like your weekend coding session is officially on again.
