Apple Reportedly Met With California DMV Officials To Hash Out Self-Driving Car
Both reports originate from The Guardian with this latest one based on documents obtained by one of its staffers. According to said documents, one of Apple's senior legal counsels met with several key individuals working at the DMV, two of which are co-sponsors of California's autonomous vehicle project.
The rub for Apple is that if it applies for and is granted a testing permit for its Project Titan, the codename for the self-driving car it's reportedly working on, it will no longer be a secret project. These types of permits requires a lot of information, including the make and model of the vehicle, autonomous features, and even the names of test drivers.
Then again, the fact that Apple is talking to the DMV could suggest that it's close to making an announcement.
