Apple's Glass House Spaceship HQ Is Dropping Employees Like Flies For 911 Emergency Calls

Last month we talked about the incredibly transparent glass walls that Apple used for its new Cupertino spaceship campus. Those walls are so clear that distracted Apple workers keep smashing into them face first. 911 transcripts for a few of the injuries have now surfaced and it looks as if for some of these people, the results of walking into the walls are more than bruised egos.

At least three people who have taken headers into the wall have required paramedics, with some needing stitches to close cuts on the head and facial areas. The transcripts show that back on January 2, 911 was called to the Cupertino facility twice because of workers that smashed into the virtually invisible walls.

One of the least injured of the three spoke to 911 for himself and told them, "Um, I walked it into a glass door on the first floor of Apple Park when I was trying to go outside, which is very silly."

"You keep breaking up," the dispatcher said. "You walked through a glass door?"

The caller responded, "I didn’t walk through a glass door. I walked into a glass door."

Another Apple employee walked into the wall with enough force that he was described as "bleeding" and "slightly disoriented." He was thought to need stitches for his wound. Albert Salvador, a building official in Cupertino, had feared that this exact thing might happen. Salvador has stated, "We did recognize this was going to be an issue, especially when they clean the glass. When you clean the windows, you can’t even tell some of them are there."

To ease Salvador's concern, black stickers were placed on the corners of the glass to make panes more visible. This clearly hasn’t stopped people from walking into the panes. Salvador has stated that the Apple Park campus "is safe per the codes that I enforce." The three transcripts that have surfaced don’t indicate any life-threatening injuries.
