Apple's 6.1-inch Mainstream iPhone Likely Returning To Aluminum Unibody Design In 2018

According to sources claiming to be "privy to the company's product designs" the 2018 iPhone models will include two OLED models with a 6.2 or 6.3-inch screen. The LCD model with the metal back is tipped to feature a 6.1-inch screen.
That budget LCD model with the metal back is said to come in several colors like the existing aluminum iPhones. The body for the aluminum device is to be made by Casetek, which is a Pegatron subsidiary, according to the sources. These sources spoke with Nikkei and the information does fit in well with some things that KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has stated previously. However, there is some difference between in details that the Nikkei sources claim and what Kuo has claimed.
According to Kuo, the three 2018 iPhones will include a 5.8-inch OLED model, a 6.5-inch OLED model, and a 6.1-inch LCD version. Kuo has a long history of being accurate with iPhone predictions and forced to choose between the two sources, Kuo would be the safe bet. Other items that Kuo has talked about on the smartphones include all three having a full-screen edge-to-edge design and a TrueDepth camera like what is found in the iPhone X today.
Another key difference is that Kuo hasn’t mentioned is metal backs for any of the devices. A device with a metal back is unlikely to support Apple's wireless charging feature, confirming its lower positioning in the iPhone totem pole. Apple has recently begun shipping unlocked iPhone X smartphones in the United States. Apple is also rumored to be readying an iPhone SE 2 for 2018.
