Apple Serves Over 1 Billion Podcast Subscriptions Through iTunes Store
If ever you wondered whether or not podcasts were truly popular, get this. Apple this week revealed that its iTunes Store topped 1 billion podcast subscriptions, served up across 250,000 unique podcasts in over 100 languages. Over 8 million episodes have been published so far in the iTunes Store.

It's a pretty remarkable feat when you stop and think about it, and it also underscores Apple's influence on current culture. To wit, the word "podcast" was derived, in part, from Apple's iPod, the latter of which Apple invented (and the former it did not).
