Asus G55VW Gaming Laptop Spotted Online

Asus is getting ready to roll out its first 15.6-inch G-Series notebook for gamers. How do we know? Well, the aggressive looking laptop reportedly appeared (briefly) online at HID Evolution, a computer, electronics, and mobile devices e-store that started out by selling products on eBay.

According to Laptoping, the Asus G55VW-DS71 went live on HID Evolution's site as a pre-order item over the weekend. When we checked, it was no longer there, but here's the reported spec sheet for the configuration that peeked its head online:
  • 15.6-inch glossy screen (optional anit-glare coating for an additional $125)
  • Intel Core i7 3610QM (Ivy Bridge)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M GPU w/ 2GB GDDR5
  • 12GB DDR3-1333MHz
  • 750GB hard drive (7200 RPM)
  • DVD burner
  • 3 x USB 2.0; 1 x USB 3.0; Thunderbold; HDMI
  • Bluetooth; 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • 2MP webcam

The system also comes with a built-in subwoofer and is THX TruStudio certified. Along with everything else, it's quite the assortment of mobile hardware, and it won't break the bank at $1,475. That's about the price of a really high-end Ultrabook, folks. And though it wasn't mentioned, we assume the system also ships with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
