ASUS Announces VivoBook W202NA Rugged Windows 10 S Notebook Targeted At Schools

Gearing up for education shouldn't have to be expensive, and that's something ASUS has proven to be the case with its brand-new VivoBook W202NA. This 11.6-inch laptop is designed to take a bit of a punch, and help students and teachers alike get their work done in an efficient manner.

At $279, we wouldn't blame you if you figured that the W202NA's durability was standard fare, more of a tacked-on feature just to increase its allure. But in actuality, ASUS says this notebook is one of the most durable out there, using MIL-STD810G testing methods, having passed twist tests, 3.9' drop tests, and high-pressure tests that "exceed" industry standards.

ASUS W202NA

Weighing in at just 2.7 lbs, this laptop is small and light enough to tote around anywhere, which includes sliding into a backpack with ease. Despite its small frame, the W202NA has a touchpad that's on par with the sizes found on 14-inch laptops. As for the keyboard, its keys are spec'd for 1.8mm of key travel, as well as resisting water (how much, we're not quite sure).

Other specs include 64GB of flash storage, 4GB of memory, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, a 0.3 megapixel camera, dual USB 3.0 Type-A, 1x HDMI, 1x SD card slot, and 1x audio jack (out). The resolution is a very expected 1366x768.

It should be noted that the $279 cost is the to educators and students. A $299 model will become available soon for regular consumers, sporting the same overall design. The only difference between the two (besides the price) is that the direct-to-education model is dark blue, while the consumer model is light blue. Both models will come preloaded with the pared down Windows 10 S operating system.

Overall, the VivoBook W202NA is not a powerful release from ASUS, but it has a very attractive price point.
