ASUS ROG Chimera Gaming Laptop Rocks 17.3-inch 144Hz G-SYNC Display, GTX 1080 Graphics

We’ve come to expect over-the-top gaming goodness when it comes to ASUS’ Republic of Gamers (ROG) family, and the company doesn’t disappoint with the announcement of the new ROG Chimera gaming notebook. The fact that this massive machine features a 17.3-inch display is nothing new, but it is the world’s first notebook panel to sport a refresh rate of 144Hz.

ASUS was one of the first out of the gate with a 120Hz panel on a gaming notebook, so it should come as no surprise that the company is once again looking to push the segment forward. The 17.3-inch panel has a display resolution of 1920x1080 (sorry, 4K lovers), a response time of 7ms, and is backed by NVIDIA G-SYNC technology.

Moving past the display, the ROG Chimera comes equipped with a Kaby Lake-based, Core i7-7820HK processor (quad-core) that features a base clock of 2.9GHz and can turbo to 3.9GHz. Up to 64GB of DDR4-2400 memory is supported and ASUS has managed to pack in a powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 GPU inside the chassis.

An added perk with the ROG Chimera is that it includes Xbox Wireless support built right into the notebook itself. That means that you can connect a wireless Xbox One controller (or other wireless Xbox One peripherals) with the ROG Chimera without the need for an unsightly (and easily lost) USB dongle.

Unfortunately, ASUS has not yet provided pricing or availability for its latest mobile gaming beast.
