ASUS ROG GX800 Gaming Laptop Goes Bonkers With GeForce GTX 1080 SLI And Water Cooling

Complementing its immense girth is an 18.4-inch 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) display with an anti-glare coating (NVIDIA G-SYNC technology is also baked into the display). Powering the ROG GX800 is an Intel Core i7 6820HK processor that can be overclocked from 3.2GHz to 4.2GHz.

This leap in performance is made possible using the Hydro Overclocking System liquid-cooling module. Using a proprietary connector, the Hydro Overclocking System pumps coolant over to the ROG GX800 to cool both the heavily-tasked processor and dual GeForce GTX 1080 GPUs. Yes, there are two GTX 1080 graphics cards in the ROG GX800 running in SLI. This potent processor and graphics subsystem is enough to ensure that the GX800 “provides super-smooth, stutter-free VR visuals with frame rates exceeding 90fps.” The added cooling also means that the graphics cards can be overclocked to 1961 MHz.

When running full tilt, ASUS says that the ROG GX800 can muster a score of 10,395 on the 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra benchmark.

If that wasn’t enough, the laptop features a MechTAG keyboard with mechanical switches, 100 percent anti-ghosting, and a 30-key rollover. And for added effect, each individual key can be customized for color and effects.

The ROG GX800 requires two 330W power adapters when hooked up to its Hydro Overclocking System. The laptop itself has an 8-cell, 76Wh battery, although we have the feeling that you’ll barely get more than a few hours of gaming in before the low-battery warning pops up.

ASUS hasn’t yet announced pricing and availability for the ROG GX800, but we’ll update this article once we’re made privy to the details.
