ASUS' ROG Strix XG49VQ Is A 49-inch Double Full HD 144Hz FreeSync 2 Gaming Monitor

ASUS is delivering some widescreen gaming goodness in the form of the new ROG Strix XG49VQ monitor. What makes this monitor so interesting is that it is a Double Full HD monitor that measures 49 inches diagonally with a 1800R curvature.

Double Full HD means that the display has a resolution of 3840x1080 with an aspect ratio of 32:9. That's not quite as dense as Dell's impressive new U4919DW, which has a resolution of 5120x1440 while also maintaining an 1800R curve. However, the Strix XG49VQ trumps the 60Hz refresh rate on that business-oriented Dell display with a decidedly more gamer-friendly 144Hz refresh rate.

In addition, the Strix XG49VQ supports AMD FreeSync 2 adaptive refresh rate technology. If that isn't enough, it is also VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified and covers 125 percent of the sRGB color gamut.

Of course, ASUS tosses in some of its own propriety technologies to give users an advantage in their favorite games including Shadow Boost technology, which brightens up darker areas in a game so that you can better spot hiding enemies, along with GameVisual technology with display setting presets for different game types (or even movies).

At this time, ASUS has not provided pricing or availability for the Strix XG49VQ, but we have the feeling that this gaming beast won't come cheap given its specs.
