Asus Shows New, Swank Eee PC S101, Sexy's Back?

Yesterday, at a posh New York hotel suite in Manhattan, Asus held a coming-out event that we decided to attend, mixing it up a little with the glitz-n-glamor set if you will.  With a Jazz band droning in a Miles Davis sort of groove permeating the air, some Champagne, and a sprinkling of model-quality hotties tip-toeing about showing off the wares, Asus wanted to make a statement about their new Eee PC S101.  Above all, this product is about quality and style.

Asus' new Eee PC S101 is a 10" Eee PC variant that comes pre-loaded with Windows XP SP3 and nearly identical specs to the Eee PC 1000H, except for some rather healthy chassis design changes and a selection of higher quality materials...

Pictured above is the Eee PC S101 in both Champagne and Copper Brown.  Champagne unfortunately will not be an option for US customers but the S101 also comes in a sleek Graphite color finish as well.  If you look closely in the corner shot of the unit, there are even custom fitted Swarovski crystals on the hinges of this new netbook.  There is no question, this Eee PC is a major departure from the run-of-the-mill netbook and offers a bit more quality in terms of build design and a lot more class to be sure.  The major functional difference between the S101 and the 1000H is that the S101 is a little lighter (2.3lbs) with a 4-cell battery claiming 5.4 hours of life, while the 1000H has a 6-cell battery, weighing in at 3.2lbs.

With a 16BG SSD, the S101 will retail for $699 -- so it's not your kid's netbook, but it seems to do pretty well with the ladies, now doesn't it? --  Updated 10/23/08 Correction made to SSD specification, which is actually 16GB for US configurations of the product.
