ASUS ZenFone 5 Lite Leaks With Dual Rear And Selfie Cameras

Asus ZenFone 5 Lite

Smartphone makers put a lot of focus and attention on camera performance, and generally speaking, each new handset brings ups the ante over its predecessor. This isn't just relegated to flagship, either. Proving otherwise, leaked details regarding the upcoming ZenFone 5 Lite from ASUS suggest it will wield dual cameras on the rear, a common feature nowadays, and dual cameras on the front, which isn't quite as common.

Famed leaker Evan Blass (otherwise known as @evleaks on Twitter) posted a couple of press renders of the ZenFone 5 Lite. You can clearly see a pair of cameras on the rear, arranged vertically in the center above what appears to be the fingerprint sensor. There's also an LED light right next to the sensors. According to Blass, they are both 16-megapixel sensors on the backside of the device.
On the front, Blass says the ZenFone 5 Lite features a pair of 20-megapixel sensors. Anyone who knows anything about photography knows that there is much more to camera performance than the megapixel count, but even so, it's pretty impressive that ASUS is using such high-resolution sensors in dual arrays on both the front and back. It also shows an acknowledgement of how important selfies have become.

The ZenFone 5 Lite joins a limited but growing number of smartphones to wield dual cameras on the front. So does Samsung's Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8 Plus handsets, along with Huawei's Honor 9 Lite and a just a few other phones, all announced in the last year.

Blass also says the ZenFone 5 Lite will have an FHD+ display, or 2160x1080, and will come in "midnight black," "moonlight white," and "rouge red." Previous leaks and rumor also suggest an octa-core CPU underneath the hood, along with 2GB or 3GB of RAM paired with 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, respectively.
