ATI RV570 Details Emerge

DailyTech reports that their sources are indicating that ATI's upcoming RV570 GPU will be arriving mid-October with 12 pipelines and 36 pixel shaders. Dubbed the Radeon X1950 Pro, the card will be priced below the recently introduced Radeon X1900XT 256MB and be doing battle with NVIDIA's new GeForce 7900 GS. At this time, it is hard to tell how ATI's GPU will fair against NVIDIA's latest performance GPU. However, the initial specs look promising as the reference board is running with a core frequency of 580MHz and a memory frequency of 1.4GHz. ATI certainly has an uphill battle ahead of them however as NVIDIA has been shipping their solution in volume now for several weeks.

Three different video output configurations will be supported for Radeon X1950 Pro graphics cards. This includes dual dual-link DVI + S-video, dual-link DVI + single-link DVI + S-video and dual-link DVI + VGA + S-video configurations. The video output configuration is up to the add-in board partner as ATI doesn't recommend any particular video output configuration.
