NVIDIA And AT&T To Demo GeForce Now Game Streaming On 5G Android Phones This Weekend

AT&T provided its 5G mmWave spectrum with Ericsson as its network infrastructure backbone for the service. The tie-up allowed the streaming of live video from Samsung devices in the stands at the games. The video streamed live from the LiveU Smart mobile app to the NBA production truck. When the video was received at the truck from the Samsung devices using the AT&T 5G network it was picked up by AT&T Global Video Services to transfer the ESPN broadcast offices where it was available to use in live coverage of games on NBA and ESPN platforms and on social media channels.

The demo will allow the visitors to play the latest PC games in near real-time on a 5G smartphone with a tech demo of the NVIDIA GeForce Now cloud gaming service for Android, which is in beta now, or to download an entire movie in seconds. GeForce Now is currently available on the PC platform and with the NVIDIA SHIELD TV 4K streamer.

AT&T says that live streaming is another example of it working to build the future of 5G applications, and that to continue to push its 5G technology, it will give visitors to the Thomas & Mach Center the ability to try out 5G service firsthand July 13-14. AT&T writes that the 5G demo is being trialed in collaboration with one of its 5G network vendors, a leading 5G smartphone manufacturer, and WarnerMedia.

AT&T was in hot water previously because its sketchy marketing of 5GE technology led many of its users to believe that they owned 5G smartphones.
