AT&T Dusts Off Old Unlimited Data Plans For DirecTV And U-Verse Bundles
Wireless providers have been loathe to offer unlimited plans of any sort to customers, which is why they're now few and far between. Be that as it may, word on the web is that AT&T is about to announce an unlimited wireless data plan for both new and existing DirecTV or U-Verse TV subscribers.
Customers who currently have or add either DirecTV or U-Verse will be eligible to sign up for a new wireless plan from AT&T that includes unlimited data, along with unlimited talk and text. It runs $100 per month for the first line/smartphone, and $40 per month for each additional one, except for the fourth line, which is free.
"Our new unlimited plan is our best offer yet. It's the perfect reward for our valued customers who like to take advantage of our integrated offers of TV and wireless services," said Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T Mobile and Business Solutions. "Video traffic continues to grow on our network as fast as ever because people enjoy viewing their favorite video content on their favorite devices.
"We've got the content consumers want, we're delivering it to the devices they want, and we're making it as easy as ever for them to consume as much as they want. And, they will get a high-quality video streaming experience from the start. No compromises in video quality, Ralph de la Vega added.
There's a caveat. Well, a couple of them, actually. The lesser of the two is that the free fourth line comes in the form of a $40 bill credit that starts on the second bill. But what some will find more annoying is that AT&T's version of unlimited data translates into 22GB of high-speed data per month. After that, AT&T reserves the right to "slow down data speeds" when the network is congested.
