AT&T Launches 4G LTE in 10 New Markets in Anticipation of iPhone 5 Launch
AT&T claims it has the nation's largest 4G network, a claim that's based largely on its HSPA+ infrastructure. But what about 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution)? The wireless carrier's working on it. Leading up to the iPhone 5 launch, AT&T flipped the 4G LTE switch on in almost a dozen new major cities across the U.S. Which ones?

- Birmingham, Alabama
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Seattle, Washington
- Honolulu, Hawaii
- Cincinnati, Ohio
- Fayetteville, North Carolina
- Wilmington, North Carolina
The list is even longer if you include the entire month of September, in which AT&T also added Rochester, New York, and Albany, New York, to the 4G LTE fold. In addition, AT&T announced upcoming 4G LTE coverage to several other territories, places like Toledo, Ohio, and Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Clearly AT&T is trying to remain as competitive as possible in the 4G LTE landscape, especially now that it isn't the only iPhone carrier in town (and hasn't been for some time). Of course, there are a number of non-iOS devices that support 4G LTE on AT&T's network as well.
