AT&T Slashes Wireless Data Prices for Solo Subscribers
Wireless carriers seem to be feeling the squeeze from T-Mobile and it's "Un-carrier" strategy. That includes AT&T, which for the second time this year has lowered wireless pricing. This time around Ma Bell said it is slashing wireless data charges for individual customers who aren't signed up to an annual contract.
Such customers will now pay $65 per month, a savings of $15 over the previous $80 per month charge for 2GB of 4G LTE wireless data. The plan also includes unlimited talk and texting (including international text messaging) and 50GB of cloud storage. Those who own two smartphones will now pay $90 per month.
"We’re continuing the trend of offering more value to our new and existing customers. Not only are families and small businesses able to save more on their monthly data plans, we’re now delivering that same great value to individual customers on the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network," said David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility. "We’re delivering more savings for customers across the board - backed by award-winning customer service - with AT&T the value keeps getting better."
On top of it all, AT&T said that for a limited time, all new and existing customers will receive a $100 bill credit for each new qualified line of postpaid wireless service added. That can be for a smartphone, tablet, feature phone, mobile hotspot, or AT&T Wireless Home Phone, the company said.
Not to be outdone, T-Mobile on Friday doubled the amount of LTE wireless data to 1GB for Simple Choice subscribers. That plan runs $50 per month and comes with unlimited talk and texting (including international text messaging).
