Battlefield V Dev Says Suck It Up Gamers, Female Characters Are Here To Stay

This week EA and DICE announced Battlefield V and gave up lots of details on the game with one of the most prominent differences between this game and others being the inclusion of female characters on the front lines. That fact led many gamers to complain about historical inaccuracies and problems with women in the WWII shooter. Battlefield V developer Oskar Gabrielson has now stepped up and is clearly laying down the law.

He tweeted, "First, let me be clear about one thing. Player choice and female playable characters are here to stay." Gabrielson followed that up with, "We want Battlefield V to represent all those who were a part of the greatest drama in human history, and give players choice to choose and customize the characters they play with."

"Our commitment as a studio is to do everything we can to create games that are inclusive and diverse. We always set out to push boundaries and deliver unexpected experiences. But above all, our games must be fun!"

In other words, stop complaining and just enjoy the game. There is nothing wrong with diversity in games and giving people the opportunity to play whatever character they desire. We've already addressed some of the claims of historical inaccuracy in the game in our original post. There absolutely were women fighting in WWII, which is the setting for Battlefield V, yet some are still taking issue with the portrayal of the women characters and their placement in the game. Some have gone so far as to accuse EA and DICE of caving to political correctness.
