Beefy XFX Custom Cooled Radeon RX 470 Breaks Cover In China
As we detailed late last week, AMD has two brand-new Radeon graphics cards due to hit the market soon: the Radeon RX 470 and Radeon RX 460. The former is going to come out on the 4 of August (aka: this Thursday), while the RX 460 will arrive four days later, on August 8.
While anything lower-end than AMD's Radeon RX 480 might not seem that interesting, this card promises to pack in a surprise or two. In fact, it's been rumored that it could be even more overclockable than the RX 480, which could help users effectively catch up to the stock speeds of AMD's mainstream card. It'd be nice, at least!
To prove that the RX 470 is no slouch, look no further than a new leak from Chinese website Expreview, which involves an XFX 'Black Wolf' edition of the card. We think most would be proud to have such a sharp-looking card in their rig.
There's not a ton of information to go on at this point outside of the obvious things we can see in the pictures. This Black Wolf edition has four heatpipes protruding out of the GPU, a 6-pin PCIe power connector, a backplate, and even an XFX logo at the top that lights up. See? This isn't what we'd call "low-end".
The card even comes in the sort of box we saw a lot more often in the early 2000s; an X-shape that will make it impossible to store on a shelf cleanly. Oh well -- at least the card itself looks badass. Whether this model will actually be called Black Wolf when it hits our shores, we're not sure, but with the RX 470's launch taking place this Thursday, the wait to find out isn't long.
